Album Review: Dinner Party

Album: Dinner Party by 9th Wonder, Kamasi Washington, Robert GlasperTerrace Martin

Review: Sit down, the food your soul has been craving is here. 9th Wonder, Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper, and Terrace Martin have joined forces as Dinner Party to deliver an album so smooth, the only thing we want now is more. The undeniable chemistry between the supergroup created 7 tracks that mix hip-hop, soul, R&B, and jazz in a way that flows effortlessly.  This crew knows each other well. Washington and Martin went to the same high school in Los Angeles, plus Terrace, Robert, and Kamasi all played on Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly. Linking with legendary hip-hop producer 9th Wonder, who shares a connection to working with Kendrick, feels all too right. This album sounds like a close group of friends getting together for dinner, but everyone is an otherworldly talent speaking with instruments. Cool to be a fly on the wall at this party.
