Kenny Dixon Jr. aka Moodymann is a Detroit-based house and techno producer/DJ who has been a seminal figure in the Motor City house scene since the mid-1990s. His unique and eclectic sound incorporates elements of gospel, blues, jazz, house, and funk, which he masterfully transcribes into his performances through live instrumentation and unconventional DJ techniques.

Today, we’re highlighting his self-titled album Moodymann. Released in 2014 via his label, Mahogani Music, the album features his signature blend of house, funk, and soul, and is characterized by its raw, unpolished sound and live instrumentation.
